League of Legends Worlds 2015 Gives Hope to People Worldwide

The 2015 annual League of Legends World Championship hosted by Riot Games arrives to Europe as 16 teams compete to get the first place prize of $1,000,000. With the Group Stage matches starting from October 1st to 4th and the 8th to 11th, with the Knockout stage following, teams and fans will meet in Paris for the starting matches this Thursday morning. The three teams that represent North America this year are Counter Logic Gaming, Cloud 9, and Team Solo Mid. Other than these three,13 teams battle to earn the first place prize and the “Summoner’s Cup” trophy.

Aside from the three North American teams, Fnatic, H2k, and Origen represent the three seeds of Europe. LGD, Edward Gaming, and Invictus Gaming represent the three seeds of China. In addition, ahq e-Sports Club and yoe Flash Wolves represent Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau. Finally, Bangkok Titans as well as paiN Gaming represent the Wildcard Regions.

As the League of Legends World Championships start, Group Stages will last a total of eight days at Le Dock Pullman, Paris. Each team is broken down into groups of four, and are shown on the right. Rules for this is a live Group Draw as well as no more than one team in one region per group. Each match in the Group Stage is a Double Round Robin, a best out of two matches with tiebreakers to be held if necessary.

Following the Group Stages, the Knockout Stage follows with different rules and setups. The Knockout Stage includes the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals. The top two teams from each group advance, with the 16 teams going down to eight. Just like the Group Draw, the Knockout Draw will last as it places a first place team to go against a second place team.

In addition to the Group Stages being held in Paris, the Knockout Stage will have three rounds and three different places. Quarterfinals will be held in the SSE Arena Wembley in London from October 15-18. The Semifinals will be held in the Brussels Expo in Belgium from October 24-25. Lastly, the Finals will be held at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany. All World Championship events will be held in four separate European countries.
