On March 21, at the Keynote event in Cupertino, California, Apple has announced their next installment of the iPhone, the product that has defined their company for the past several years. The iPhone SE, promises to be a big step forward for Apple. Anyone looking to stay up to date in the world of technology will not be disappointed.

It keeps the same basic design, with the classic stainless steel logo on the back and crafted from bead-blasted aluminum for maximum comfort, but there are some noticeable changes. With a 4 inch retina display, as opposed to to iPhone 6s’ 5.5 inch display, the SE is lighter, and more compact than its recent predecessors.

Making use of the same chip as the iPhone 6s, the A9 chip, the SE offers high speed and responsiveness, equal to that of the iPhone 6S. In addition, embedded in the A9 is the M9 motion coprocessor, allowing for the tracking of things like distance traveled or steps taken.

The SE’s 12 megapixel iSight camera takes high definition pictures and videos in 4k. A new feature named “Live photos”, allows for the moments just before and after a photo is taken to be replayed with sound and motion.

“I’m always excited to hear about the newest products from Apple, and the new iPhone is no exception, I expect great things from it,” junior Maxwell Smith said.
