Deabolt Overview

Deadbolt, released on Steam on March 14th and developed and published by Hopoo Games, LLC, is a 2D (or side-view) action shooter, with a touch of tactical planning, and a lot of twitch-shooting. In Deadbolt, players take on the role of a reaper, who has been assigned, by a very well-spoken and mysterious flame, to execute a variety of nightmarish creatures, such as zombies, vampires, skeletons, and demons.

As a reaper tasked to send the undead back to an eternal slumber, players have a large array of methods they may use to do so. These methods include weapons such as pistols, shotguns, hammers, knives, and thematically of course, a scythe. But not all players think it’s perfect.

“Wonderful game, could use more weapon variety though, a lot of the weapons are similar to eachother,” a user on Steam said in his/her review.

Through the completion of each mission, players will acquire souls based on how quickly and accurately they complete the levels. These souls can be used to purchase unique weapons, which the player may then access at the start of future levels. Additionally, souls may also be obtained by performing tasks set forth by in-game achievements; upon completing them, players receive additional souls.

Central mechanics in “Deadbolt” are the traversion of each level and the elimination of enemies. There are a variety of opponents with vastly different methods of approaching and defeating the player. How one plans their approach, and their speed and accuracy in executing that approach, will determine one’s success in Deadbolt.

“Tight controls, fun gunplay, an incredible soundtrack, and a text-based story that I can't wait to get more of,” another user on Steam said in his/her review.

One feature that many players on Steam praise “Deadbolt” for, is that people can make their own levels for “Deadbolt” using the level editor. This allows for almost endless replayability, because there will be new content to play for as long as people make levels.
