Superhot, an independent first-person shooter, was released on February 25th, 2016. Being released, in addition, on Xbox One on May 3rd, 2016, Superhot is still developing and gaining popularity.

Similar to Portal, Superhot challenges a player’s ability to think in a short amount of time. Since in-game time only moves whenever the character moves, players must use their environment to their potential by killing the enemies with weapons, such as a katana and shotgun.

The environment also classifies what is important to the player in specific colors, labeling some objects/players as red and others as black or white. The walls, floors, ceilings, and any other structures are white. Bullets and weapons are black, and the enemies as well as the trail of the bullets are red. Players want to focus on key elements, such as red and black colors primarily, but also anything white that could be of aid to them.

In addition to the time, ammunition is another challenge players must face. Every gun has a limited amount of ammunition and ammunition can’t be refilled. So once a gun runs out, a player must throw it to either get rid of it or replace it with another gun. Each bullet is a one-shot kill, and each melee weapon is a one-hit kill.

Finally, another challenge is called the “hot-switch”. By pressing E, players can switch bodies with another enemy, however removing the gun in the process since the other body had possession of it. This kills the previous body the players were on, and can also help them from imminent death. This has a cooldown so players can’t keep spamming it, but it offers a lot when it comes to quick decision making. “Superhot is a really fun game. I downloaded it a few weeks ago and I still play it because there is so much you can do in a small game,” junior Razmik Degoian said.

Superhot is still developing and patches are constantly being updated on Steam. So for now, players can enjoy completing the chalenges and endless mode, as well as a game in Superhot known as "Tree Dude".
